Privacy policy
Short version: no cookies, no accounts, no forms, no ads and no Google. Visits are counted with self-hosted, cookieless analytics.
Who is responsible
This website, mboufos.com, is the personal website of mboufos, based in Greece, who is the data controller for the processing described below. You can reach me on the TheGHoppers Discord server.
What this site does not do
- It sets no cookies.
- It has no user accounts, sign-ups, comment sections or contact forms, so it never asks for your name or email address.
- It shows no ads and uses no advertising or social-media trackers.
- It embeds no players or widgets from Twitch, YouTube or Discord — those are plain links, so nothing is loaded from them until you click.
- It loads nothing from Google or other third-party CDNs — fonts and scripts are served from this site itself.
Server logs
Like every website, this one runs on a web server — hosted by Hostinger. When you visit, the server and its network automatically receive technical data such as your IP address, browser and operating system, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure (for example, to detect abuse). The legal basis is my legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These logs are kept by the hosting provider for a limited period and are not used to identify you.
Analytics (Matomo)
To understand which pages are read, I use Matomo, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics tool hosted on our own server (analytics.theghoppers.com). The data is never sold or shared with advertising networks. I do not use Google Analytics.
Matomo runs in a cookieless configuration: it stores nothing on your device and does not track you across other websites. It records anonymised page visits — such as the page viewed, the referring site, the browser and device type and the approximate country — with IP addresses anonymised. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Opting out: enable the "Do Not Track" setting in your browser and Matomo will not record your visits at all.
Stored in your browser
Two small preferences are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them: your light/dark mode choice (key theme) and, if your browser is set to Greek, whether you closed the "read this page in Greek" hint (key langHint). They never leave your device and you can clear them at any time through your browser settings.
Links to other websites
This site links to other websites, such as Twitch, YouTube, Discord, Steam, X and TheGHoppers. Once you follow a link, that website's own privacy policy applies; I have no control over how they handle your data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify or erase personal data about you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact me on the TheGHoppers Discord server.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Greece, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority.
Changes
If this site starts handling data differently, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
